I use SourceHut and I'm glad it exists but its workflows leave much to be desired.

I'm curious and haven't ever used any non-git vc - what does Mercurial offer that you prefer to git?

It is simpler and more consistent with fewer arcane incantations. Its philosophy is less inclined toward rewriting history. It also has TortoiseHg which is a great GUI front end.
