I could never work a fountain pen. All I'd get was a line of dry gouges separated by the occasional ink blotch. If it weren't for ballpoints, I have no idea how I'd ever legally sign my name.
Picked up a fugly colour Lamy Safari on clearance, really satisfying to write with, have to give it extra time to dry before you close notebook but worth it.
Might try one of those Chinese knockoffs
