Somewhat recently, a couple of Chinese companies have been making some very cheap telephoto lenses. Brand marks like JINTU are offering 800mm and 1600mm lenses for around US$75-100. They are usually around F8.3, though, and lack any electronics for auto focus or stabilization (hence why so cheap). The mounting rings are also somewhat fiddly. So, you're definitely getting what you pay for. But good telephoto lenses are 10-20x more expensive, so it could be a good way to get started on the cheap.
Oh, that series. If only it hadn’t devolved into a low-effort telenovela, it would’ve been so much better. The alternative timeline to spaceflight was amazing. But while I patiently waited through the boring relationship drama to get to see alternative space history again, those segments got shorter and sparser and the drama more stretched out and ridiculous beyond belief (that… Oedipus thing..? Like… still at a loss of words). I gave up on the first few episodes of season 3, when it completely derailed into golden girls in space with like three extras.
I have a photo from this guy on my wall. It’s a photograph of the ISS transiting the Sun! Actually quite fantastic.
