I'm extremely curious about the nationality and residence of a person who uses Braintree (a town in Essex UK with a silly name) as an example but purchases things in dollars

There's also a Braintree in Massachusetts, outside of Boston. It's the last stop on the MBTA's red line.

United States dollars are the de facto global currency. I can see a British person converting pounds to US dollars writing for a global audience.
